Dr. John and the staff at Gahanna Animal hospital were so nice. I came from another clinic because my dog needed surgery and they got us in immediately explained everything in detail and got her follow up scheduled. I highly recommend going there! Kenzie Rose approved!

My first appointment at GAH was with DR Debbie Riebel! She was very Kind to My pets and Very Friendly and open with me. We moved from out of sate and Dr Riebel explained the differences in how often Vaccines were required in Ohio. She was very cost conscience and offered options and recommendations that could be less costly but still keep my pets healthy. Office staff was also kind and friendly and very competent! I will definitely make GAH my permanent vet!

I have pretty much always had a wonderful experience with Gahanna Animal Hospital. I’ve used their services for over 16 years. Even when they helped me make the difficult decision to lay to rest two of my Furbabies, they were very kind and many of the staff members signed the sympathy cards I received for both my Connor and Coal. Because of their services, Connor lived well beyond his years with a heart murmur (he passed when he was 13) and Coal was able to live just as long. Although I am sure they see many clients, I always feel like I am treated like they know me personally. Thank you for everything you do! Also, thank you for taking such good care of my current Furbabies Chloe and Beau! They are tiny dogs but they sure cut a monkey for their check ups and Dr. Klay is just so patient with them!

Came in for a UTI check and was also able get a trim done because of another patient's cancelation. Appreciate them working us in, so we didn't have to come back another time.

The doctors and staff at the Gahanna animal hospital are the most caring individuals in providing pet owners with trust in answering any and all questions. First timer here in Gahanna! I was more than pleased with the service and also sent the website a review just in case they don't get it there, I will send here! Staff was fabulous and super helpful! We had an emergency appointment because our little Jonesy was sick both ends >.< Dr was immediate and I learned a lot, we were in and out within n hour! Got the medication RIGHT then, didn't have to go anywhere to pick it up or wait, our pup may have just ate something he didn't like, not sure but my anxiety levels was through the roof!! 100% recommend and it's really hard to find great workers nowadays, fabulous job!!

Gahanna Animal Hospital staff are great. They work with you on appointments. Dr. Rich and other staff members Renee and Jessica compete in AKC events. It is nice to be able to talk to the Doctor and Staff that understands the type of competition I have my dogs doing so I can keep my dogs healthy.

FAQs

Why are animal hospitals so expensive? ›

Salaries. It takes a lot of people to provide health care for pets. Pet owners see the receptionists, veterinary technicians, and veterinarians, but they may not see the multitude of animal care personnel who work diligently cleaning kennels, feeding patients, walking dogs, mopping floors, and washing bath towels.

Should you visit your dog in the hospital? ›

Some visits for stable patients can be facilitated outside if the weather is nice. The majority of patients rest well in the hospital, sometimes visits can increase stress after the patient is brought back into ICU, so visits might be discouraged. Visits can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

What is the difference between a veterinary clinic and an animal hospital? ›

Generally, many of the services offered at animal hospitals are in-hospital capabilities, meaning that resources or procedures won't need to come from additional facilities. The care offered at clinics is more routine, like vaccinations, wellness exams, and other general services.

Veterinary Prescriptions Have Multiple Markups

Any medicine you get from a vet will have multiple markups applied from the wholesaler and at the vet surgery. This is implemented to cover the costs of stocking and supplying the medication.

Is it bad I haven't taken my dog to the vet? ›

Even if your dog has had a clean bill of health for years, you should still take them to the vet for a checkup occasionally. Most vets recommend bringing your dog in for a checkup at least once a year. Routine checkups can help you monitor your dog's health and spot potential problems before they become more serious.

How long do dogs stay in the hospital? ›

The length of time that an animal hospital keeps a pet depends on a variety of factors, including the pet's health, the reason for its admission, and the owner's wishes. In some cases, a pet may be able to go home the same day as its appointment, while in other cases, it may need to stay overnight or for several days.

What do vets call their patients? ›

Do veterinarians refer to the animals they treat as "patients"? In my experience, yes. The animals/pets are patients, the owner of the patient is either referred to as “owner” or as “the client” (since they are the one paying the bill and who decide whether or not to visit our facility and/or utilize our services).

What does a vet do in a pet hospital? ›

Veterinarians are doctors trained to protect the health of both animals and people. In a clinical hospital environment, veterinarians work with large and small animals to evaluate animals' health; diagnose and treat illnesses; provide routine preventive care; prescribe medication; and perform surgery.

What animals can vets treat? ›

Many treat only traditional or exotic pets such as dogs, cats, birds, small mammals (e.g., hamsters, guinea pigs), reptiles, and fish. Some veterinarians exclusively treat horses. Others treat a combination of species.
